    RiverMill Event Centre Continues, with Property Under New Ownership

    RiverMill Event Centre continues to be a leader among venues throughout Georgia and Alabama. The RiverMill property was recently purchased by the Hospital Authority of Columbus and will still be occupied by Jamie Keating Culinary, the managing company of The RiverMill Event Centre. A long-term agreement/rent structure has been reached between both parties.

    Jamie Keating opened the event centre in 2006 when the building was owned by Brent Buck, who later sold it to Buddy Nelms and Michael McMillan in 2014. Offering a rustic ambience, the RiverMill Event Centre boasts 60,000 square feet of indoor space, as well as three outdoor venue areas. Off-site catering is also available through Jamie Keating Culinary.

    Built in 1912, this historic renovated cotton mill stands high above the rocky shores of the Chattahoochee River. Over the years, the cotton mill was expanded and in its heyday employed 3,000 workers. Later, with the onset of the U.S. textile recession, the Bibb Company filed for bankruptcy, and the mill closed its doors in 1998. Renovations began soon after when the mill was purchased by Buck Investment Company, during which time Jamie Keating began leasing the space as Gourmet Events. In 2008, a devastating fire swept through the old Bibb City Mill and part of the event centre facility. Determined to get back to business, Jamie Keating Culinary was born and went full speed ahead with renovations and booking events. In 2012, Keating also opened Epic Restaurant, in the heart of Uptown Columbus, along the banks of the Chattahoochee River.

    The drive and commitment to offer a superior level of quality and service to the Columbus community continues today. Chef and Owner Jamie Keating explains: “My original business plan was and still is based on personal attention. From the food to the event design and even the dishwashing, I oversee every detail. Creativity is what we strive for, but only if it’s sensible.

    “Over the years, RiverMill has been a part of many important events in this area – from weddings and anniversaries to military formals and company parties. And we plan to provide our highest level of service and dedication to the community for many years to come.”

    Keating graduated from the Culinary Institute at Greystone in California and studied at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. He is a member of the 2008 ACF United States Culinary Olympic Team and a recent triple GOLD MEDALIST in the Kochunhunst Austerlang, Erfurt, Germany. His culinary experience includes positions with Hyatt Hotels in Atlanta and Hilton Hotels in New Jersey. He has traveled to Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg and France to compete against other countries for top honors in cooking, as well as held a position at a Michelin 3 Star restaurant in France. He has been featured several times on the Food Network and in many culinary and national publications.
